My study program

This year has been quite the learning experience. We started with online classes and, 10 months later, now we have a hybrid mix adding presenciality. Things have improved, for the most part, since last year´s performance. But there's still some factors that have been poorly managed.

This is my freshman year, so I'll talk about the online method implemented for the arrival of new students. We have teoric and practical subjects throughout the week. Workshop is our only practical subject for now, it has eleven hours in total, meanwhile teoric subjects have twelve. This semester (september-december) we had the option of choosing between two modes, a hybrid workshop and a full online one. I chose the hybrid, monday and wednesday in the faculty, friday online. It was a simple procedure, but still, classmates had problems with the system that managed the mode assignment. This “system” has been known for its underwhelming results when someone wants to take their respective subjects. In some cases people are left with less subjects for the semester, if not resolved in time it can delay their studies, meaning the payment of one or more semesters. I think a complete rework of the “system” by the directive of studies with the help of students could make a more efficient environment. Teachers have been comprehensive for the most part. If we are overwhelmed by the workload, we can delay the deadline of a certain project with them, it happens in both workshop and teoric subjects. All of the material shown in classes is later shared by our teachers via gmail or download link, also we have forums in which teachers can answer our questions. The methods used have been well received, we can say these are advantages of being in this technology depending learning process. It's a helpful tool, but it can't replace the dynamic of presencial classes. The faculty has been adapted to receive a limited number of students, but it’s capable of withstanding a larger number. Many classrooms are empty, plus new spaces are in construction, so it’s exciting to think about how all will work in the future.

English language challenges

In the last 3 months I´ve been in my last English course. The learning process of a new language can be intimidating at first, but as you go down the road it can mean so much more than just a “subject” you have to pass.  Obi-Wan Kenobi During my last four years of highschool I had some activities related to this subject, they were the reason why English became appealing to me. By the beginning of twenty-twenty I had finished school and therefore my studies, but then out of the blue came the pandemic. I took the year off, hoping covid would last for a few weeks, but well, we all know how it ended. Through the year I tried to maintain the knowledge I gained from the school's English courses, but I slowly began to lose interest. I didn't feel motivated, but I still read and watched things from time to time. This year things got better in a way, entering college gave me the push I needed to regain my motivation for my studies, and so I noticed all the time I wasted. Fortunately ad...

Holidays

The best moments are shared with family or friends. When I was little I didn’t enjoyed going on trips with my family, to be away of my home, friends, of what I knew. Now a days I regret not have appreciated those moments when I should have. They are unforgettable, unique memories, which you can cherish forever and ever.   On my last family trip I got to know the north of Chile , Coquimbo . We made the trip the 7 th  and returned the 14 th  of February, present year. On the 7 th my parents and I got up early in the morning, six or seven am, got ready and left to pick up my cousin and aunt, making a total of five people. On that time Holiday´s transport regulations regarding the pandemic where just announced, therefor, for each family member we had to fill a paper with our health details in order to leave the city. After six long hours, some stops, plus the struggle that was filling the papers, we arrived on our relative´s apartment, and damn was it worth it. Th...

Iceland

If I had enough money and time, where would I go? That’s something I ask myself whenever I see a photo of an airplane or a train. To travel is to experience something new, different, maybe to get a little pause to rest from your weekly routine.
