In the last 3 months I´ve been in my last English course. The learning process of a new language can be intimidating at first, but as you go down the road it can mean so much more than just a “subject” you have to pass.
During my last four years of highschool I had some activities related to this subject, they were the reason why English became appealing to me. By the beginning of twenty-twenty I had finished school and therefore my studies, but then out of the blue came the pandemic. I took the year off, hoping covid would last for a few weeks, but well, we all know how it ended. Through the year I tried to maintain the knowledge I gained from the school's English courses, but I slowly began to lose interest. I didn't feel motivated, but I still read and watched things from time to time. This year things got better in a way, entering college gave me the push I needed to regain my motivation for my studies, and so I noticed all the time I wasted. Fortunately adapting to the online method of the classes wasn’t too difficult. By September I was ready to learn English once again and, overall, It has been nice. I had to do some catching up on the topics early on but it was worth it, because I was once more into this dynamic of speaking and writing exercises. One of the things I was fond of was the blogs, I have never published anything online, but in this case I liked how in each publication we had to write our own experiences regarding different topics, It served as a platform to develop not only our individual ways of narrative, but also as a way to learn from the work of others. I’d like to say my writing skills improved thanks to this, just a little, at the expense of my oral skills. I haven’t spent time improving this aspect, nor I've thought about it, so for what’s left of the year I’ll try to practice it by listening and losing up, by that I mean to not sound so rigid, but more natural, organic. Now I watch videos/movies in their original language more often, they sound much better in my opinion, also when I find myself searching for information for an essay or something similar I read foreraign forums and their discussions, English in general can complement your activities in many ways.
